How to disable virus scanning in Firefox 3
On Windows, Firefox 3 uses the installed antivirus software to scan the fully downloaded files. This might be a good idea, but it can be the source of some annoying complications: freezes, delays an so on.
Considering the fact that almost every decent antivirus software offers a real time protection for your system I would say that this “feature” in Firefox is not so useful.
Anyway, if you want to disable it, type in the address bar of Firefox:
about:config
and search for:
browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
Now, all you have to do is to change the value from True to False and you’re done.
